GARY LAROCCA - RECLAMATION

Performance: Saturday May 31st - 8:00pm

This event showcases the release of Gary LaRocca’s LP, Reclamation.

Gary is a Toronto-based guitarist who grew up in a musical family spending part of his youth in his community of Scugog Island First Nation. In concert and on his album, you’ll hear the emotion of Oscar Peterson, the directness of Robert Johnson, the grit of the Rolling Stones. Reclamation is a personal, cultural, and musical renewal, paying homage to classic rock, blues, and jazz.

Gary has First Nation and Italian-Canadian roots. He is proud of both and you’ll hear it in his music. The healing drums on Ash, improvisations that remind you of Joe Pass and both elements combined in the haunted and haunting vocals of Wind Talkin’.

Gary will be playing the tracks from his new album. He will also play new unpublished material and jazz and current standards. He will be accompanied by Tim Bovaconti on guitar and piano, Fabian Skidmore on bass and Paul Brennan on drums.
